Mission Statement:

Over one third of Americans struggle with accessing their proper and needed medications, whether it is for a common cold or a life-threatening condition. Those in need face financial pressures and lack of accessibility to healthcare, and are constantly having to sacrifice common life necessities. Yet, rationing medications or just simply not taking them can have dangerous outcomes on your health, resulting in even higher costs. This is why Medication Equity Initiative is devoted to ensuring equal access to essential medications for all individuals, independent of their income, race, employment status or any other barriers they may face. Our organization is heavily supported upon the belief that medication access is a basic human right that no one should be deprived of, no matter what type of medical treatment, due to the systemic inequalities within our society. One of our main aims is to advocate for policy reforms to deconstruct the barriers to medication access. We will be pushing for the development and implementation of inclusive policies that prioritize affordability, availability, and accessibility of medications for everyone. Another goal we hope to achieve is to empower communities to surpass the complexities of healthcare systems and advocate for their rights to medication access. Medication Equity Initiative strives to foster a sense of agency and solidarity, to amplify the voices of those affected by medication inequities, as the heart of our organization lies a commitment to social justice, equity, and compassion. We recognize that medication access doesn’t just affect health, but it is also a matter of equality and justice within our society. We hope to overcome the restraints of medication disparities and be one step closer to a world where everyone has equal access to the medications they need.
